Basketball never stops. On today's edition of "Current Sports with Al Martin," the show begins with the news of East Lansing High School hoops standout Brandon Johns committing to play down the road at the University of Michigan. Al shuts down the critics that have a problem with the 17 year old's choice. Engineer Isaac Constans echoes Al's sentiments and claims that Johns made the right choice. Current Sports continues the dialog while being joined by Johns' coach at ELHS Steve Finamore. The Brooklyn-born coach shares some interesting opinions on why he believes Johns chose to join the Maize and Blue, as well as his hard-hitting opinion on the uphill battle young basketball players face in this country. With storylines abound concerning basketball stars who played in the Lansing area, former MSU women's basketball star Tori Jankoska will be taking her talents to Poland. After she was cut by the Chicago Sky of the WNBA, the team that drafted her ninth overall in the 2017 draft, Jankoska and her journey represent the disparity between the treatment of male and female athletes. Al sounds off and gives his opinions on why the WNBA is truly a niche sport that is struggling to upkeep its popularity. "Throwback Thursday" wraps up the show, and Al takes you back in history to relieve some notable memories that took place in sports on this day.
