Tom Izzo; Michigan State Men's Basketball; Callers; Heisman Trophy; Baker Mayfield; Detroit Lions; Weekend Winners.

It may be cold outside in mid-Michigan, but that's why "Current Sports with Al Martin" brings the heat. MSU men's basketball head coach Tom Izzo fumed at reporters after  a question about his benching of star forward Nick Ward last week. Did the press deserve it? Listen to Izzo's comments here, as well as thoughts from Ward and Miles Bridges following a late pull-away win against Southern Utah. Al describes why coaches, and especially Izzo, should have decision-making power when it comes to the handling of their own teams. Engineer Isaac Constans talks about the tension in the room, but backs the head coach, as well. After callers contribute to the dialog, college football had a less explosive weekend. Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield easily hoisted the Heisman Trophy, causing Al to retell his story, as well as those of other candidates. Isaac has an interesting comparison for the runaway victor. Putting a bow on the show, "Weekend Winners" catches what else went down.
