For about five years, Michigan’s medical marijuana law has authorized doctor-approved patients either to grow pot or to buy it from state-certified "caregivers." Now, the state legislature is looking at a second approach.
Last week, Republican Senator Roger Kahn (R-Saginaw), a physician, proposed that, in Michigan, marijuana go from a Schedule 1 drug to a Schedule 2 drug. That reclassification could lead to medical marijuana becoming available in pharmacies. Kahn and other supporters say that would better ensure safety.
