Editor's note - we originally incorrectly reported the businesses approved committed hiring close to 15,000 workers. The correct number is close to 1,500 workers.

The city of Lansing conditionally approved licenses for 10 medical marijuana facilities Tuesday.

The facilities were judged on a 100 point scoring system.

Lansing says it put special emphasis on which applicants would provide the biggest economic impact to the city.

“We want to make sure the patients have continued access. We want to make sure businesses are able to stay open in Lansing and we want to protect the city of  Lansing at large," said Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope.

Lansing says the businesses it approved have committed to hiring close to 1,500 workers and investing more than $51 million in the city.

The businesses still need to receive state approval.
