The Michigan Senate has passed a bill that would create a funding board to help pay for infrastructure improvements in Flint. We talk with the Michigan Public Radio Network’s Cheyna Roth about that and the race for two seats on the Michigan Supreme Court.
Michigan voters will determine two of the seven state Supreme Court justices on Election Day. Republicans David Viviano and Joan Larsen each appear on the November ballot. Justice Viviano was appointed to the High Court in 2013 to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of former justice Diane Hathaway, and Justice Larsen is running to complete the term started by Justice Mary Beth Kelly, who retired in 2015.
Currently, Republicans hold a 5 to 2 majority on the Michigan Supreme Court. If Viviano and Larsen should both lose their races, the balance of power on the court will shift.
