The long-shuttered Meridian Mall Theatres in Okemos are being renovated, and will become a Celebration! Cinema operation.
When Studio C! opens by the end of the year, the movie-going experience will include reserved seating and chef-prepared food options.
Marketing Vice President Steve Van Wagoner says the building will undergo extensive renovations.
"Everything from what used to be a concessions stand will no longer be a concessions stand," Van Wagoner explains. "In fact, we're not even going to use the word concession anymore. The box office disappears; it becomes a dining area."
Another big project: replacing the sloped theater floors with a new stadium seating layout in each of the facility's six auditoriums.
Van Wagoner hopes to open Studio C! by the end of the year.
