Lansing City Council Approves 5-year master plan for parks

LANSING, MI – The Lansing City Council has approved the plan to manage its parks for the next five years. The 5-year master plan includes $2-million to reopen Crego Park which was closed in the 1980's. It also includes more spending on smaller, neighborhood parks. Council Member Carol Wood says the "pocket parks" are easy to overlook in tough budget times.

"We put in the maintenance and sustainability of neighborhood parks, the additional $250-thousand, so that would could possibly match that with some grant money if that became available through the DNR."

Lansing has more than 100 parks. The city has cut more than $2.5 million from its parks budget over the past two years.
