DETROIT – A Houston company says an independent probe it commissioned failed to link its top managers to a Detroit bribery case that brought down City Councilwoman Monica Conyers.
Synagro Technologies made the statement in response to questions from the Detroit Free Press.
The newspaper reported Sunday that its review of documents shows at least four Synagro executives were aware of questionable spending by two Synagro salesmen.
Salesmen James Rosendall and Rayford Jackson have been convicted of roles in the bribery case, which involved a 2007 sludge-hauling contract with Detroit.
The wife of U.S. Rep. John Conyers pleaded guilty last year and starts a 37-month sentence Sept. 10.
U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade says a federal probe continues.
