Lansing announces recipients of arts and culture grants

By Rob South, WKAR

Lansing, MI – The City of Lansing announced Monday the recipients of $136,000 dollars in arts and cultural grants.

The Lansing Symphony Orchestra, the Lansing Art Gallery and the River Walk Theater are among 16 local groups that will receive grant money from the city and the Greater Lansing Arts Council.

Leslie Donaldson, the director of the Lansing Arts Council, says the grants are intended to help boost the democratization of arts within the Lansing community.

"(The grants will support) making Lansing that special place," Donaldson said.

Donaldson says the grants will allow for arts and cultural programs within Lansing to be better accessible. Donaldson also says she hopes the grants will allow for children and low-income residents to take further advantage of arts and cultural opportunities within the city.
