Jackson City Manager Warren Renando says he fired the city's community development director because she failed to meet performance standards.

Renando tells the Jackson Citizen Patriot that he terminated Carol Konieczki on Tuesday after she failed to perform tasks and meet goals outlined in a previously sent memo.

Konieczki, who held the position for five years and earned about $100,000 annually, declined comment to the Citizen Patriot.

Renando said the position will be filled and an emphasis will be placed on the director's ability to communicate and build working relationships.
