BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI –
U.S. Senate candidate Pete Hoekstra is flying in from Washington to accept the endorsement of one of his former Republican rivals.
Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner John McCulloch plans to endorse Hoektra Tuesday afternoon during a press conference at Oakland County Republican Party Headquarters.
McCulloch declared his candidacy on July 15. Five days later, Hoekstra reversed an earlier decision not to run and entered the race to unseat Democratic incumbent Debbie Stabenow.
The Associated Press reported last week that Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson had switched his endorsement from McCulloch to Hoekstra. Patterson also is attending the event.
Other Republicans in the Senate race are former Kent County Probate Judge Randy Hekman and Roscommon businessman Peter Konetchy. Charter school executive Clark Durant and cardiologist Rob Steele also may run.
