WKAR, the NPR affiliate for Michigan State University and the mid-Michigan region, is seeking an experienced, charismatic and dedicated producer and local anchor for ‘Morning Edition’. Responsibilities include producing and hosting the daily morning show, producing human-interest features for ‘Current State’ – a magazine news program, producing and scheduling on-air promos, and establishing and maintaining online social media engagement with listeners.  This person will work closely with the station manager, other program hosts, and the contributing and assistant producers as well as student interns.

This position requires at least three years on-air experience in commercial and/or public broadcasting, including programming and feature production talent; work experience that demonstrates professionalism, curiosity, and diverse interests; demonstrated ability to produce high quality content and programming; experience with automation systems, digital workstations and schedule software; ability to work on multiple tasks, on deadline and under pressure;  and self-motivation with experience turning ideas into action. Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, communication, or related field is required.
