A high-ranking Michigan State University administrator has announced he's leaving soon.
Provost Kim Wilcox officially joins a non-profit African aid organization in July.
He says his awareness of African issues grew during his seven-year MSU tenure.
"I've come to appreciate how much my colleagues on the faculty achieve around the globe," he explains. "I've had occasion to travel to Africa to see the work that we do there. So, yeah, I've come to really appreciate the importance of the work."
Wilcox is joining the Partnership to Cut Hunger and Poverty in Africa. The organization has had strong MSU ties since it was founded in 2001 by then-MSU President Peter McPherson.
Wilcox's associate June Youatt will become acting Provost on January 1.
