One of Rock and Roll’s most outlandish individuals had a colorful tale during his birthday in Flint, Michigan back in 1967. British band The Who, was performing at Flint’s Atwood Stadium during drummer Keith Moon’s 21st birthday. Fans of the band and of Moon sent 200 birthday cakes to their stopover… the Holiday Inn. Wary of perhaps dangerous additions to the cakes, the band decided to have a birthday cake food fight, and caused such a commotion that police were dispatched, and Moon ended up smashing the officer’s face with birthday cake. After apologizing to the cop, Keith Moon, as he told Rolling Stone magazine, “I jumped into the first car I came to, which was a brand-new Lincoln Continental. It was parked on a slight hill, and when I took the handbrake off, it started to roll and it smashed straight through this pool fence, and the whole Lincoln Continental went into the Holiday Inn swimming pool, with me in it.” – A memorable Flint Michigan Birthday for the late Keith Moon.
