Michigan has filed three tax liens against the Central Intelligence Agency.

Documents evidently filed by the state Department of Treasury claim the CIA failed to pay more than 20 thousand dollars in taxes on behalf of its employees working in Michigan. Those failures to pay taxes date between March 2011 and December 2013.
The Lansing State Journal first reported on the liens. It says the CIA employs an undisclosed number of workers in Michigan.
There are still many questions surrounding the tax assessments. State treasury officials are not allowed to speak publicly about individual tax assessments under state law. The CIA would not talk on record about the liens.
