The East Lansing Public Library is seeking feedback from community members on an effort to update the library’s branding.

Members of the public are being invited to fill out an online survey or attend an upcoming focus group to help inform the process.

The rebranding will include a new color scheme, logo and potentially new card designs.

The rebranding is part of a new strategic plan for the library that will help inform its budget and programming, according to Gabby Kindig, who leads the library’s communications team.

“We were thinking, you know, we’re refreshing all of this about our message and our identity, we should make sure that the library’s brand and the way that we look is refreshed and reflecting the work that we have just done,” Kindig said.

Around 700 people have filled out the survey so far, Kindig said.

“When we did the strategic plan, we heard frequently that people were really excited that we were listening to them, and they were just really excited to be able to share their opinion on things,” Kindig said. “People really wanted to continue to have opportunities for feedback.”

The survey closes Jan. 26. Registration is required to attend the focus groups, which are currently scheduled for Feb. 3 and Feb. 9 with a third date being announced soon.

The library plans to reveal the new strategic plan and branding March 17.
