Hill Auditorium

90.5 Classical celebrates great Michigan music with a live broadcast of the 2018-19 season opening concert by the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra from the University of Michigan’s Hill Auditorium.

The program includes Antonin Dvorak’s popular Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” and a world premiere by noted University of Michigan composer William Bolcom. Bolcom's music "Ann Arbor Saturday" aurally depicts the anticipation and excitement of game days at Michigan's "Big House", and was commissioned by the A2SO to open its 90th season.

Piano Soloist Aaron Diehl is featured in two classic American keyboard works by George Gershwin; Rhapsody in Blue and I Got Rhythm Variations. Peter Whorf hosts the 8pm concert on WKAR.

WKAR’s first live pledge drive since federal funding was eliminated is happening now. Our goal for the drive is $60,000 and reaching it will bring us one step closer to closing the federal funding gap.
