Influential Iowa Newspaper Backs McCain, Clinton

Over the weekend, the Des Moines Register endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton in the Democratic race and Sen. John McCain in the Republican race. Carol Hunter, editorial page editor of the influential paper, explains how the editorial board came to those decisions: "In both cases, it came down to competence and readiness to lead."
