Bernero Calls special Council Meeting

By Rob South, WKAR Radio News

Lansing, MI – Lansing, MI (WKAR) - Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero has called a special meeting of the City Council tonight to vote on a controversial plan to sell the city's North Capital Parking Ramp.

The city council rejected a proposal last year that would have sold the ramp to Lansing Community College for two-point-seven million dollars.

The four council members who voted against the deal said the ramp was worth more. Councilmember Brian Jeffries says he negotiated a better deal for the city, but it was rejected by the Bernero administration.

The plan before council tonight is nearly identical to the original proposal. Tonight's meeting is at 6:00 at City Hall.
