LANSING, MI – Lansing mayor Virg Bernero says he hopes a march and rally in Lansing today will start "a dialog about the American dream."
Jesse Jackson and US Senator Debbie Stabenow are expected to attend the rally, which begins with a march from Union Baptist Church to the state capitol at 11 a. m.
Bernero says it's likely to be a sad day, with General Motors expecting to file for bankruptcy.
Bernero says that America needs to start acting as if what's good for GM is good for America, citing the importance of foreign auto companies to their home countries' economies.
Bernero says an action plan calling for a moratorium on foreclosures will be unveiled today. The plan also calls for zero or one-percent interest student loans.
The rally at the capitol begins at noon, following the march.
