Storm causes $400K damage to Jackson school roof

By AP

JACKSON, MI – A Northwest Community Schools official expects heavy damage to a middle school roof outside Jackson to be repaired before the start of the school year.

Tom Goodwin, the district's director of operations, maintenance and transportation, told the Jackson Citizen Patriot that parts of the roof covering the Kidder Middle School's tech lab and curriculum office were lifted off during storms Sunday night and a corner of roof covering the gymnasium was peeled back.

Damage was estimated at $400,000.

Goodwin said insurance adjusters will be called to the site and repair work will begin as soon as possible. He said he expects the work to take about 10 days from start to finish, well in time for the start of the school year.
