EAST LANSING, MI –
The long-delayed City Center II project in East Lansing may finally begin moving forward tonight.
That's when the city planning commission holds a public hearing on changes made to the developer's 112-million dollar plan.
The city council approved the project in 2008. Since then, Strathmore Development Company has faced financing and tax problems. The commission could not consider revisions to the plan until back taxes were paid.
The development, at Grand River Avenue and Abbot Road, would include residential and commercial components. There also would be a performing arts facility associated with Michigan State University.
Parking would be included in the 5.5 acre development.
The commission is likely to act on the City Center II project next month before sending it back to the city council.
