Mich. congresswoman called to Detroit grand jury

By AP

DETROIT – A congresswoman who is the mother of Detroit ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been summoned to appear before a grand jury in Detroit.

The notice from U.S. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, a Detroit Democrat, was in yesterday's Congressional Record.

Kilpatrick's office manager, Andrea Bragg, has also been told to appear at the grand jury. Her disclosure was in Tuesday's Congressional Record. The dates of their appearances were not disclosed.

A message seeking comment was left with Kilpatrick's spokeswoman today.

Federal authorities are investigating corruption in city government during Kwame Kilpatrick's tenure as mayor. He hasn't been charged. He resigned in 2008 after a criminal conviction.
