Michigan State women seeded 5th in region

By AP

EAST LANSING, MI – Michigan State will meet Mid-American Conference champion Bowling Green in the first round of the Kansas City region in the NCAA women's basketball tournament.

The fifth-seeded Spartans (22-9) are making their second straight tournament appearance and seventh in the past eight seasons. They finished No. 24 in the final Associated Press poll after losing to Iowa in the Big Ten tournament semifinals.

Bowling Green, the No. 12 seed, is 27-6.

The teams will play Saturday at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky., with the winner advancing to meet either Kentucky or Liberty on Monday.

The Final Four will be in San Antonio on April 4 and 6.

WKAR’s first live pledge drive since federal funding was eliminated is happening now. Our goal for the drive is $60,000 and reaching it will bring us one step closer to closing the federal funding gap.
