Lansing Community College considering alliance with Boarshead Theater

By Scott Pohl, WKAR

LANSING, MI –

The Lansing Community College Board of Trustees will vote tonight on a deal that would allow Boarshead Theater to reopen.

Financial problems forced the professional theater company to shut down operations in December.

Under the proposal, Boarshead would use performance and rehearsal space at LCC.

The college would have a say in the selection of four shows per season. The proposal would also include allowing students to learn from and perform with the company's professional actors.

The deal would cost $86,000 each year. It would cost LCC an additional $15,000 in the first year to acquire the theater's assets.

Tonight's board meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Administration Building.
