MSU names interim director for Dubai campus

By Scott Pohl / Kevin Lavery, WKAR

EAST LANSING, MI –

Michigan State University has named Harold Sollenberger interim director of MSU's campus in Dubai.

Sollenberger is a professor emeritus of accounting and information systems. He has served as an associate dean in the Eli Broad College of Business, and he taught at MSU-Dubai for part of the fall 2009 semester.

Sollenberger replaces founding executive director Brendan Mullan, who will return to the East Lansing campus. Classes began in Dubai in August 2008, and Sollenberger says the campus has come an amazing distance since then:

"We went from basically nothing to an up and running university, and it's truly impressive to say to be able to say that we have an MSU Dubai university," he says.

Sollenberger's appointment is effective June 1. His contract will run until September 15. A world-wide search for a permanent director the MSU-Dubai is underway.
