4th member of Midwest militia gets out of jail

By AP

DETROIT –

A fourth member of a Midwest militia has been released from jail until trial on conspiracy and other charges.

Kristopher Sickles of Sandusky, Ohio, will be electronically monitored 24 hours a day. He was released Wednesday after appearing in federal court in Detroit.

Three other members of the Michigan-based militia were released Tuesday. All had been locked up since late March.

Prosecutors have charged nine members with conspiring to commit sedition. The U.S. attorney's office had opposed the release of any of the nine but now says it's satisfied that restrictions will ensure the public's safety, at least for four.

Sickles' wife, Kelly, will serve as his custodian. He can go to court, work, church and medical appointments.

WKAR’s first live pledge drive since federal funding was eliminated is happening now. Our goal for the drive is $60,000 and reaching it will bring us one step closer to closing the federal funding gap.
