Bernero, Snyder fight over jobs creation records

By AP

Democratic Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero is criticizing his Republican rival for not having a specific plan to help create jobs.

Bernero spoke Monday at Niowave Inc., which he helped bring to Lansing. The company manufacturers custom parts used in particle accelerators.

Bernero says Republican Rick Snyder's jobs plan is just "Wall Street business babble." He notes he has brought nearly 6,000 jobs to Lansing during five years as mayor and wants to start a state bank to give loans to small businesses.

Snyder says he helped create thousands of jobs around the country during his years as a former Gateway Inc. executive and Ann Arbor venture capitalist. His campaign says many the jobs Bernero claims were in the pipeline when he became mayor.
