Lansing, MI –
Business counselors from Michigan State University hosted a conference in Lansing Tuesday to help entrepreneurs launch their food product ideas into the marketplace.
AUDIO:
The "Making It In Michigan" conference focused on product development, safety issues and a keynote address highlighting changing consumer food trends in the U.S.
The event was hosted by the MSU Product Center. Director Chris Peterson says in order to succeed, entrepreneurs need an innovative idea, a positive attitude and a marketing opportunity.
"We've helped about 800-plus get those three things together and start the venture," Peterson says.
Of those, 150 actually have put product out in the marketplace."
Peterson says changes in how Americans eat are creating more opportunities for entrepreneurs to build an experience around their product...an ingredient he says is essential to success.
