LANSING, MI –
Governor-elect Rick Snyder was in California earlier this week for a meeting of Republican governors. Now he is in Colorado Springs at a training session for new governors.

Earlier this week, Snyder told the Republican Governors Association that reducing public employee compensation costs will be one of his top priorities. Now, he is at a training session sponsored by the National Governors Association.
Jody Omear is the association's communications director. She says the meetings are run by a bipartisan group of veteran governors.
"And they talk with new governors about a variety of topics - shaping your agenda, managing an executive budget, emergency preparedness," she says.
Omear says fixing state finances is a big topic of discussion.
She says many new governors are surprised by the pace of the job, and how quickly the transition goes by.
Snyder is in a very large class of new governors - 29 of the 55 governors of the country's states and territories.
