Black Friday may be strongest in Michigan since 2004

By Rob South, WKAR News

Lansing, MI – Michigan retailers are expecting a better holiday season this year. The Michigan Retailers Association says this should be the best shopping season since 2004. CEO Jim Hallan says lower unemployment numbers and the results of the last election have given shoppers more reason to spend.

"I think all of that goes into that consumer confidence that is made up of so many different things," says Hallan. "But the indicators that we're seeing is that it's much stronger today than it was a year ago."

Hallan says retailers could see a six-percent gain in sales over last year.
