No. 11 Michigan State matches best start ever

By AP

EAST LANSING, MI – Brittney Thomas scored a career-high 22 points to help No. 11 Michigan State beat Purdue 76-57 on Sunday and match the best start in school history.

Lykendra Johnson had 13 points and eight rebounds and Kalisha Keane added 12 points, all in the second half, for the Spartans (20-3, 8-2 Big Ten), who built a comfortable lead with an early 12-0 run.

It was Michigan State's 18th straight win in Breslin Center, the second-longest streak in school history.

Drey Mingo had 16 points and Alex Guyton added 12 for the Boilermakers (16-8, 6-5), who didn't get their usual production from guards Brittany Rayburn and Courtney Moses.

Rayburn had 10 points for Purdue, which trailed 30-20 at halftime. Moses, one of the league's top freshmen, was held to five points.
