The state Senate will convene Wednesday to deal with a handful of unresolved issues.
State Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville says lawmakers need to continue debate over what to do about wild boar on hunting ranches. The Department of Natural Resources has pushed back enforcement of a rule that would require hunting ranches to get rid of wild boars. Ranch operators say that would put many of them out of business.
Richardville says he's not deeply moved by the issue, but understands it is an important to the agriculture community.
"Well I'm not positive about how it's going to wind up," he says. "You know it's one of those things that's very difficult because there's not much of a compromise in sight for either side. That's one of those things that will get me very frustrated. Is there a way to work together? Sometimes there's not. And when there's not you just got to plow forward."
The Senate is also expected to deal with health insurance benefits for public employees, and a four-year lifetime cap on welfare benefits.
