Hirten: Lansing placemaking efforts bearing fruit

WKAR File Photo

Lansing City Pulse Associate Publisher Mickey Hirten has placemaking on his mind.

We’ll talk with him about The Outfield apartment complex attached to the baseball stadium in downtown Lansing and how it and other recent developments are being used by those who hope to attract business and new residents to locate in mid-Michigan.

Lansing City Pulse associate publisher Mickey Hirten has been thinking a lot lately about placemaking in mid-Michigan. His recent writing for the paper and for the Greater Lansing Business Monthly has focused on projects like the Outfield Apartments at Cooley Law School Stadium in downtown Lansing and expected developments like a new Costco store. Could these projects be a catalyst for growth in the Lansing area, the kind of growth leaders of local units of government and business leaders have been striving for?

Current State asks Mickey Hirten how these efforts might be related.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
