Spartan Great Bob Apisa Is Headed To The Hall Of Fame

WKAR

The Michigan State Athletics Hall of Fame will add five more legendary Michigan State athletes into its exclusive club this fall. Bob Apisa, Joe Baum, Bob Cassleman, Kristin Haynie, and Dr. Clarence Underwood will all be recognized for their incredible feats as Spartans. Apisa joined "Current Sports" host Al Martin on the air Tuesday to talk about the accomplishment.

At the top of the list, perhaps one of the more prominent names, is former Spartan fullback Bob Apisa. One of just a handful of players in football program history to be inducted, he played an important part in helping MSU to a 19-1-1 record in 1965 and 1966. During that two-year span, the Spartans combined for  back-to-back Big Ten and National Championships.

Apisa, who also gathered first-team All-America accolades in '65 and '66, joined Al Martin on Tuesday's episode of "Current Sports" to discuss the induction.

Their discussion encapsulates a number of things including the remembrance of the members of '65-'66 team that are no longer with us, what it means to be etched into Spartan super stardom as well as the current state of MSU football.
