An Eraser Sized Creature Causes Giant Concerns for Great Lakes

Bloody Red Shrimp

The bloody red shrimp came to the Great Lakes around 2006 in the ballast water of cargo ships. Now, scientists are running tests to determine whether the shrimp -- no bigger than a pencil eraser -- is harmful to the Great Lakes and should be labeled an invasive species.

WKAR’s first live pledge drive since federal funding was eliminated is happening now. Our goal for the drive is $60,000 and reaching it will bring us one step closer to closing the federal funding gap.
