WKAR Public Media seeks a motivated and innovative individual interested in furthering their career in broadcasting engineering and/or media technology. This position is a paid internship to take place between January 1, 2020 and May 1, 2020, based on the intern’s schedule.

Intern will have the unique opportunity to study with WKAR Technical Services Manager Gary Blievernicht and learn all aspects of TV and radio engineering including transmission engineering, studio production, IT, online services, and more. This internship is designed to benefit the intern’s education and experience.

If schedules permit, this internship also includes an opportunity to attend the 2020 NABShow in Las Vegas as an intern, travel expenses and stipend included.

This position is supported under a grant awarded by NAB PILOT and NAB Leadership Foundation.

Intern Responsibilities
Interns receiving the grant program’s funds will be required to perform the following:

  • Report to work regularly and accept the terms of a part-time or full-time internship position.
  • Continuously solicit feedback from station and fully explore learning opportunities.
  • Work with the station to locate housing and cover any housing costs.
  • Create a video journal of internship experiences. The journal must be submitted with the evaluation at the end of the program.
  • Attend 2020 NAB Show to serve as staff interns for the Show, meet with NAB Technology executives, and visit the NAB Show. Interns will be paid by NAB for their time worked as staff interns at the Show, and their travel expenses will be paid by NAB.
  • Complete an evaluation of the program.
