A senior priest from the diocese of Lansing has been removed from public ministry following what has been called “credible allegations” the Lansing State Journal reports Friday morning.

The allegations were cited as inappropriate behavior of a sexual nature involving a minor dating back to the 1960s, according to a statement from the Diocese of Lansing.

The priest being removed has been identified by the diocese as Reverend Joseph Aubin, who because of his senior status was not assigned to a specific parish within the diocese.

This is the fifth announcement of a priest’s removal or resignation this year.

The Diocese announced that it will enlist the help of an external agency to review how the allegations were handled. The report will be made public on the Diocese website.
