WKAR file photo

Eight proposals may be on Michigan's November ballot, bringing a deluge of money and ads over issues ranging from protecting collective bargaining rights to requiring utilities to use more renewable energy.Four already have passed muster.

The State Board of Canvassers on Thursday approved three more and deadlocked over a fourth that would repeal the state's emergency manager law. Supporters plan to go to court to try to get the repeal on the ballot.

The board has OK'd a measure to let voters decide if a new bridge separate from the Ambassador Bridge should be built between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario.

It also is allowing a measures requiring a supermajority vote in the House and Senate to increase taxes and banning hydraulic fracturing or "fracking" in oil and gas production.

WKAR’s first live pledge drive since federal funding was eliminated is happening now. Our goal for the drive is $60,000 and reaching it will bring us one step closer to closing the federal funding gap.
