Gov. Rick Snyder has signed a bill investing more than $300 million in infrastructure projects at Michigan's colleges and universities. The signing ceremony took place Monday at Wayne State University. The Detroit school is planning a biomedical research building.

The legislation includes a commitment of $304 million to fund 18 construction projects statewide.

Other projects include a science lab, classroom and office building at Grand Valley State University; an engineering center at Oakland University; and an electrical power technology and training center at Alpena Community College.

Snyder says "these investments allow higher education in Michigan to stay on the cutting edge."

WKAR’s first live pledge drive since federal funding was eliminated is happening now. Our goal for the drive is $60,000 and reaching it will bring us one step closer to closing the federal funding gap.
