A state House panel has unanimously approved bills meant to help Michigan craft brewers.
As The Michigan Public Radio Network’s Jake Neher reports, the legislation seems to have little opposition in Lansing.
Brewers and other stakeholders have been debating the issue for more than a year. Now, it looks like the bills could clear the Legislature in the next few weeks.

“This benefits everyone,” he says. “So, everyone sells more beer – Michigan beer. So there’s really no losing party.”
There is some debate surrounding a related bill in the state Senate. It would ban bars and restaurants from using mugs and glasses with a brand’s logo on them. That’s already a state administrative rule. But some restaurant and bar owners say putting it in state law would make it harder to change in the future.
