Brant Wells

Brant Wells serves as the Senior Director of Station Operations at WKAR Public Media in East Lansing, Michigan. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the station’s operational functions, ensuring seamless broadcast continuity across WKAR’s television, radio, and digital platforms.

Wells joined WKAR in October 2016.

Before joining WKAR, Wells spent over a decade as a post-production specialist in Los Angeles and Florida, bringing a wealth of industry experience to his current role.

Brant Wells is a graduate of Florida State University with a degree in Communications-Media Production.

In addition to his operational leadership, Brant Wells is an adjunct professor at Michigan State University, where he teaches post-production. He is deeply committed to the advancement of public media, with a focus on education, mentorship, and community engagement aimed at empowering the next generation of storytellers.

Wells has contributed to national public media strategy through his service on the PBS Digital Media Advisory Council (DMAC) from 2019 to 2022, where he held the positions of Vice Chair in 2020 and Chair in 2021. He currently serves on the PBS Engineering and Technology Advisory Council (ETAC), the Digital Distribution Working Group, and the PSB Local Presence Working Group.
