Lansing City Attorney appointee prepares to tackle recent controversies

Jim Smiertka's appointment as Lansing City Attorney is expected to win the city council's approval tonight.

City Attorney nominee Jim Smiertka joins us to talk about the problems facing the Lansing City Council and how he could play a part in solving them as the next City Attorney.

The Lansing City Council news has been anything but dull lately with the the City Council at odds with the the Mayor’s office on a variety of issues, but it looks like they may be able to agree on one thing...or at least one person.

Jim Smiertka was nominated by Mayor Virg Bernero to be the next Lansing City Attorney, and it’s expected the City Council will confirm his appointment tonight. Smiertka would follow interim city attorney Joseph Abood and former city attorney Janene McIntyre.
