MSU Journalism students Pechulano Ali and Erin Gray

Cameroonian journalist Pechulano Ali and Sterling Heights, Michigan, native Erin Gray bring a different perspective to Election 2016 in their Mi First Election conversation today at MSU's College of Communication Arts and Sciences.

The two J-School students compared and contrasted the voting process and freedom of the press in Cameroon and the U.S.  They spoke at the school's new media center.

After graduation,  Mr. Ali, a graduate student, hopes to work for a non-profit organization that promotes community development.

Ms. Gray is a senior journalism major/public relations minor.

The two will join WKAR radio news host Mark Bashore in the 8pm  hour during 90.5FM's election night coverage.

MI First Election brings together student reporters and media professionals to form Michigan’s largest election team, covering state and local issues affecting first-time voters. MI First Election is a project of the School of Journalism at Michigan State University, with production and editorial support from WKAR Public Media. The J-School and WKAR are units of the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at MSU.
