Dale Copedge was elected president of the Lansing branch of the NAACP this weekend.

Former Lansing NAACP president Yvonne McConnell had resigned from the post recently, and the rest of the organization’s leadership team also stepped down. The Michigan NAACP called a special election to put new leadership in place. That election was held in Lansing on Saturday AT UAW Local 724 Union Hall on Clare Street.

Copedge is an environmental engineer with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.

In 2012, he ran in the Democratic primary election for the 68th district state House seat that ultimately went to Representative Andy Schor.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
