Lansing Re-Names City Hall for Former Mayor David Hollister

The city of Lansing is re-naming its governmental headquarters for a beloved former mayor who led the city for a decade.

David Hollister served as Lansing’s mayor from 1993 to 2003.   During his tenure, General Motors built both the Lansing Grand River and Delta Township car assembly plants.  Cooley Law School Stadium, which was then known as Oldsmobile Park, was completed under Hollister’s leadership.  Hollister was also instrumental in brokering a land use and tax sharing agreement between the city, the Capital Regional International Airport and nearby DeWitt Township.

Lansing City Hall will now bear David Hollister’s name.  The honor comes as Lansing is developing a plan to sell its current city hall and build a new complex in the future.  It’s expected the new building will also be named for Hollister.
