Booth Newspapers moving toward more online news

By AP

GRAND RAPIDS, MI –

A new company structure has been created to oversee the newspapers and online operations of Booth Newspapers, Mlive.com and AnnArbor.com. It promises to focus more
resources on Web efforts.

Beginning Feb. 2, MLive Media Group will handle news and advertising for all of the properties. Advance Central Services Michigan will handle production and distribution.

Booth Newspapers and The Grand Rapids Press Publisher Dan Gaydou will be president of MLive Media Group.

Home delivery for The Grand Rapids Press, The Muskegon Chronicle, the Kalamazoo Gazette and the Jackson Citizen Patriot will be cut to three days from seven. The papers will publish seven days and be available at newsstands and online. The group also has The Flint Journal, The Saginaw News and The Bay City Times.

Some job losses are expected.

Every WKAR News story you read is rooted in fact-based, local journalism, produced without commercial influence and available for free to everyone in mid-Michigan. No paywalls. Ever.

But this work doesn’t fund itself. With significant cuts to federal funding, public media is facing a critical moment. If you believe in journalism that serves the public interest, now is the time to act. Donate today.
