Neighbors in Action: WKAR's Radio Reading Service

WKAR

On this week's Neighbors in Action segment we feature WKAR's Radio Reading Service, which will turn 40 next week.

Volunteers read news and books to the visually impaired across mid-Michigan. Radio Reading Service Director Brad Walker and long-time volunteer Mike Lipsey say that with repeats, the service is available around the clock.

If you’d like to nominate someone or an organization to be featured on our Neighbors in Action segment, please send an email to Currentstate@wkar.org. Put “Neighbors in Action” in the subject line and tell us why you think they should be featured for the great work they do.

WKAR has closed the gap left by the loss of federal funding. Because of you, trusted journalism, inspiring stories, and classical music remain freely available to everyone in mid-Michigan.
Now the work continues — your monthly gift helps maintain this success and keeps public media free for all.
