What's New on WKAR, November 15th

As the holidays approach, new choral releases are arriving daily at WKAR.  One of my favorites (though more associated with the Easter season) is Gregorio Allegri's Miserere from Ensemble Caprice.  Also included  on the disc entitled Adagio are works by Albinoni, Barber, Part and many others.  It's a more serene, meditative take on  Christmas than some of the more brassy, tra-la-la stuff.   Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The Lansing Symphony is well-represented this week by some of their all-Russian concert from last month at the Wharton Center...and there's a terrific Berlinsky/Bagratuni/Sohn  performance from Schubert's E flat trio.   And more...

Rimsky-Korsakov/Capriccio Espagnol/Lansing, Muffitt/MSU recording

Borodin/Polovtsian Dances/LSO, Muffitt/MSU Recording

Debussy/Preludes Bk 2/Kazakov

Allegri/Miserere/Ensemble Caprice/Analekta

Schubert/Trio in E flat/Berlinsky, Bagratuni, Sohn/MSU recording

Haydn/Symphony 102/Boston Baroque/Linn
