Common house fly

Michigan residents can expect insect pests earlier than normal this year. According to Michigan State University Entomologist Howard Russell, it's the result of the recent stretch of warm weather this winter.

Russell says stink bugs, house flies, gnats and other insects might be seen emerging around the house as they become more active.

Even if colder temperatures return, Russell warns that the bugs are here to stay.
